Reputed to be one of the oldest properties in the quiet village of Cubert, this is a gorgeous mid terrace cottage

Reputed to be one of the oldest properties in the village, Hydrangea is thought to be circa 400 years old and as such retains the original character and charm you would expect to see. From beamed ceilings, stripped wood floors and quirky rough cast walls to the vaulted A frames on the first floor, cast iron wood burning stove and gorgeous window seat, every inch of Hydrangea has character aplenty.

Hydrangea is a mid-terraced two bedroom cottage. Step into the open plan lounge/dining room with the aforementioned window seat, wood burning stove and beamed ceiling, oak latched door to the kitchen and another to the staircase. This is a lovely bright room, cosy and inviting. The galley kitchen, although small, is fitted with a range of floor and wall cabinets, integral oven and hob with space for a fridge/freezer and washing machine. The half glazed door leads out to the shared walkway at the rear which in turn leads to Hydrangea's private garden.

Heading up to the first floor landing, the walls are uneven and rough cast while the ceiling is vaulted with gorgeous original beams on show. Two recessed cupboards provide storage solutions. The first bedroom, a genuine double, has a vaulted and beamed ceiling and built in wardrobe while the second bedroom is a single room again with a vaulted and beamed ceiling. The shower room has recently been remodelled and combines the original rough cast quirky walls with a contemporary bathroom suite complete with a wet room style shower with fixed glass panel, stylish natural stone tiling and crisp white sanitary ware. Hydrangea has wooden double glazed windows to the front and has recently been partly rewired with new consumer unit installed.

As previously mentioned, there is a shared path to the rear of this row of cottages which leads to a private garden for Hydrangea. An area of lawn and planted borders accompany a double block built shed with corrugated roof. Services to the property include mains water, electricity and drainage.

We at Jackie Stanley recommend a viewing of Hydrangea to fully appreciate it's wonderful character and peaceful village setting.

Cubert is a quiet village within walking distance of the wonderful beach at Holywell Bay with the beaches of Polly Joke and Crantock also in close proximity. The village has a shop with Post Office counter, bakers shop, seasonal fish & chip shop, public house, 14th Century Saint Cuberts church, restaurant and a Primary School.

It is just one mile to the beach at Holywell Bay with a walk along the pretty Ellenglaze valley with stream. Holywell Bay is a small seaside village situated on the North Cornish coast between Perranporth and Newquay. This huge beautiful beach of golden sand backed by grass tufted dunes is is owned and maintained by the National Trust, a perfect example of the north coast's wide open bays, large enough for everyone to enjoy whatever comes naturally. Go body boarding in the water, storm watch in winter or stroll across the sands with the dog, Holywell is also an ideal place to just sit on the beach and read a good book while the kids play in the stream or enjoy the waves. In the summer months the beach is patrolled by lifeguards and of course, surfing lessons are available for those keen on learning. The beach has been used in the filming of Poldark and James Bond in recent years.

To find Hydrangea, head west on the A30 trunk road towards Truro. At Carland Cross roundabout, head straight over and stay on the A30 signposted to Redruth and Perranporth. Continue along the A30 and then turn right at signs for Perranporth and Goonhavern. Drive for approximately 2 ¼ miles into Goonhavern and then turn right onto the A3075 signposted to Newquay. Continue along the A3075 until you see signs for Cubert and Holywell Bay. Turn left at the signs and follow the road into Cubert. Drive over the mini roundabout and then take the next left into Churchtown. Head towards Saint Cuberts Church and bear right. Hydrangea can be found tucked behind the first row of cottages. The postcode for satellite navigation is TR8 5EZ.
