A charming 3 bedroom detached bungalow providing comfortable accommodation & pretty landscaped gardens
This bungalow enjoys a superb coastal location in the hamlet of Trethevy, conveniently situated between the popular villages of Boscastle and Tintagel. The detached property is positioned in an elevated spot with excellent views towards the cliffs of Bossiney Cove and to the ocean beyond. The accommodation is well planned and comfortable, certainly very unique and bespoke which adds to its charm. The outstanding feature of the property is the garden, beautifully and cleverly cultivated with an array of plants, shrubs and trees which create a haven of seclusion. There are private patio areas to both sides of the bungalow, a detached garage and off road parking.
Originally built in the 1920's of non-traditional timber frame construction, the bungalow has been improved upon over the years with the addition of the conservatory, bathroom, new roof and blockwork to the external walls to create a more permanent and solid structure. Ultimately, although the property provides a tranquil coastal haven, there is huge opportunity for a complete redevelopment on the site, subject to the necessary planning permissions.
The front door opens into an entrance porch which is home to the oil fired boiler and complete with double glazed windows and tiled floor. The inner hallway has a very useful storage cupboard and separate airing cupboard. Generously-sized, the bathroom incorporates both a paneled corner bath and separate corner shower enclosure with glass shower screen and electric shower unit, a low level flush wc and pedestal wash hand basin complete with obscure glass window and tiled walls.
The next room is a single bedroom, currently used as an office with built in shelving. A range of bespoke and highly unique wooden floor and wall cabinets with a rolled edge work surface, tiled splashback and stainless steel sink and drainer are fitted in the kitchen. There is under counter space for both a cooker and washing machine, a tiled floor, two windows and the back door.
In the middle of the bungalow is the lounge, a beautifully tranquil room with a wood burning stove and French doors opening into the conservatory. Both rooms enjoy a pleasant aspect over the garden and views towards the cliffs and sea. Leading from the lounge, a double bedroom has an unusual built in elevated bed with shelving and storage beneath. Another bedroom with a built in wardrobe is accessed from this room and is currently used as an artists studio.
The mature garden includes a pond, productive vegetable patch and a new garden shed with double glazed window. At the rear of the property, there is a hedge boundary, planted border and the sites of the oil tank and old coal store. Services to the property include mains water and electricity with private drainage and an oil fired central heating system.
Trethevy is a small hamlet located on the North Cornish Coast between Tintagel and Boscastle. Tintagel, a famous Cornish village, rather magical and mystical, known for King Arthur's Castle and legend is just over a mile away and Boscastle is famous for its Elizabethan Harbour. Both villages offer many shops, restaurants and other local amenities to enjoy in this area, as well as local primary schools and churches. Bossiney cove is situated very close by, which offers a lovely beach and cliff top walks.
To find the property, take the B3263 coast road from Tintagel to Boscastle. After the Rocky Valley dip, you enter the hamlet of Trethevy. Turn inland off this road just after the old telephone box and follow this lane up and to the left. The bungalow is the fifth property on the right hand side. The postcode for satellite navigation is PL34 0BG.
